Hey there good lookin'
(Neighbor's Lemons 2002 in the background)
Gonna have to do something about that front plate
Mmmm recaros
Old car and new car
I am very, very excited. Now I need to get up to the hill country and find some corners
EDIT: I also wanted to give a big shout out to Leif Johnson Ford here in Austin and my sales guy Leo Light in particular. When I first went into Leif Johnson on Monday they had literally just sold their last ST on the lot but Leo was still very helpful letting me know that they could order whatever I needed from other dealers or from the factory if I was able to test drive one somewhere else and also promised to call me once they got another one on lot. I drove from Leif to Maxwell Ford where they still had one ST and was able to test drive it which went well, but then when we went inside to talk they were extremely unhelpful. I was told that unless I was interested in buying the one they had on the lot they wouldn't be able to help me for a couple of weeks until after all the new year stuff had died down, and that they were unwilling to talk numbers unless I was ready to buy then. This was extremely disappointing because I didn't like the color of the ST they had on lot and a lot of the rebates were expiring on the 2nd of January. So I went home and fired up the old computer and found a 2013 ST (one of the last 5 in Texas) at a dealership 2 hours away with the exact options I wanted. The next morning I called up Leo at Leif Johnson and asked him if he could get it for me. 7 hours later they had it on lot. I picked it up today and I couldn't be happier with the service I got. I shot the shit with Leo for a while and he is a true car guy, especially Mustangs. He daily drives a '04 Mach 1 and has a 800+ HP drag Mustang running on 20lbs of boost and E85. Oh and he did all the work himself. Long story short if you are in the market for a Ford around Austin call up Leo at 512-454-3711 or email him at llight@leifjohnsonford.com. I'm not shilling for him because I know him, I'm shilling for him because I got great service from a real car guy

I need to shoot you a text. We still need to have the beers. I'm not sure which hill country yet, haven't exactly had the vehicle for it. I have heard good things about Lime Creek Road

congrats man! 4 door fun right there!
Love the color, and the nice black interior. I have seen some colorful focuses and fiestas on the inside

Camera on the Nexus 4 is bad and always washes out picks. Plus the phone has a glass back and there is crack running straight through the camera :(

damn, its a big as an old jeep! :P
![]() 01/02/2014 at 16:41 |

Yep, people forget how small the Cherokee actually was. Especially at stock height.

Thanks to another OPPOnaut for purchasing my City's best export!
Built in my city Wayne, Michigan!
We also built the other Foci and the C-MAX.
Enjoy!

I grew up in the Detroit area so it felt good to be able to buy something where I knew where it was built.

Where did you run away to? I can tell you don't live out here anymore because there'd be a shitload of snow on that Focus ST.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 16:45 |

Austin, Texas. Weather is much better down here.

I can imagine, after removing 8 inches of snow yesterday and this morning before work i would imagine.
No cool automotive advertising agencies to work for down there though.

Ah, makes sense. Bummer =/

You cracked a Nexus 4 screen? I took mine out of the case recently and I'm worried about breaking it.
Also congrats on the car.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 17:04 |

Screen is fine, no cracks. But the back of the phone is all cracked to hell, I don't think they used gorilla glass on the back. Glass backs to phones confuse me.

Every time I see that orange I think to myself "Jesus, that's orange as fuck."
Also, I want to paint my Space Marines that color #nerdlopnik.

Lime Creek is awesome. Spicewood Springs is also a great drive, although sometimes there's really rough water-crossing areas. Redbud Drive is a good, twisty road but it's though a neighborhood so you have to be careful. For a casual shake-down, you can't beat going to High Road around the Westlake area.
Great color to on the ST!

Your phone has left a hazy shade of winter on that crazy shade of orange.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 17:21 |

That is the best color option for that car.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 17:25 |

Congrats! Glad you went with that color

It's pretty sexy in black too. I probably would have been torn between the two but this was one of the last 5 2013s left in the state of Texas, 4 were Tangerine and 1 was red, which I didn't like. So my mind was pretty much made for me! But I do love this color, and don't mind that I had to pay a little extra for it.

Congrats on your ST :D
This is where my plate goes, i bought it from here: www.ccmustangbrackets.com/
I actually was trying not to run front plates, lasted 2 months before I got pulled over and now I leave it on. It's removable (and not drilled on), so when I take the ST to the track/AutoX, I take it off.
There isn't many front plate options, I'd take a look at FocusST.org for more ideas.

Thanks I might go with that one. I hope it doesn't block airflow to the intercooler too bad...

Move to TN; no front plates required!

Nice......I think I will be getting this exact model-how do you like the Recaro seats?

Too bad they didnt put it here to begin with. I always liked the offset front plate on the Evos

LeMons 2002? Please do elaborate.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 21:48 |

It will after a gear or two on a highway pull. Stock inter coolers not quite up to the task...

Guys across the street bought a car that had run in lemons a couple of times a few years ago for like $1000 including all the safety equipment and some extra motors. They had in running and were planning on going to the Houston Lemons race at MSR in September but I don't think they made it. I haven't seen any work done in a while, if it continues to sit I might make them an offer on it...

Honestly they are a little tight on me, especially in the thighs. But I am 6'2" 225 lbs so your mileage may vary. They hug you very tight but I've been told they loosen up a little which I am hoping for but I already feel myself getting used to them.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 22:14 |

how big is the stock intercooler, and does it even fill that entire gap? I really don't see it being that big of an issue, if at all.
![]() 01/02/2014 at 22:17 |
|
You can sorta see it behind the picture. I mean either way you're blocking your intercooler or your radiator you have to choose.

well the only way to see if this makes a dramatic impact is to datalog and watch IAT, but as far as looks go, down the bottom looks way better

I agree.

Nice, I drove one of these out a Miller motorsports park for a full day on the track and UrbanX course and LOVED it. Im a diehard subaru fan (owned 2 WRXs and my current STI) and was very impressed by this little beast.

Now. Back to my original meme/point.
I test drive a focus st every year for the $50 ford gift card
They basically pay me to go to the NYIAS

Big congrats on the ST, the color is wild. I offer the kings Captain salute (he is posed similar to Captain Morgan) for to choose such a bold color you have a little of the capn in you. now ,lets talk about the Jeep, what you going to do with her?
also $kaybait :)

I've got a friend who is finally getting his life together who needs some wheel, I might just straight up give it to him. If not there is a guy at work who wants to buy it. It's not a 4x4 so it's not really worth keeping around as a toy.

I've had plenty of hoontastic times in a similar but rusted 2wd my cousin used as his farm truck out in the sticks.80 acres of pasture, trails, washed out gully's & so on. in that situation 2wd was never a handicap or limitation. by all means pass her on to your friend. just seeing her in the picture was a trip back in time for me. and again cgs on the ST.

If I had land I might consider that but since I also have a 1978 Volvo as a toy I can't really justify keeping 3 cars around. Thanks for the kind words
